Magic UI changelog

A dated timeline of what changed in Magic UI — new components, the MCP server and CLI releases, Pro sections and templates — each entry linked to its source on GitHub, npm or the official docs. The library has no numbered releases, so package versions and commit dates are the version markers; this page is updated whenever the official product changes.

How to read it: "Release" entries are npm publishes of the MCP server or CLI, "Components" entries track additions to the free registry, "Pro" entries cover paid sections and templates, and "Milestone" entries are the project's history. Snapshot entries record what the official docs showed on the date given, so you can tell a dated release from an observation.

  1. Pro

Snapshot: Codeforge is the newest Pro template; Hero, Feature and Pricing sections marked new, Social Proof updated

As of this snapshot the Pro docs flag Codeforge as the newest template and mark the Hero, Feature and Pricing sections as new and Social Proof as updated; the free docs promote Glyph Matrix as the latest component. Pro remains a one-time purchase with lifetime updates, so existing buyers receive these additions.

  2. Components

Repository activity: latest commits to magicuidesign/magicui

  3. Release MCP 2.0.0

MCP server 2.0.0 published to npm

@magicuidesign/mcp 2.0.0 is the current major version of the official Model Context Protocol server: it exposes listRegistryItems, searchRegistryItems and getRegistryItem, so an AI editor searches the live registry instead of guessing component names.

  4. Release CLI 1.0.3

Official CLI 1.0.3 published to npm

@magicuidesign/cli 1.0.3 became the official command-line tool, replacing the retired magicui-cli (0.1.6, July 2024). It writes the MCP configuration for the supported clients (cursor, windsurf, claude, cline, roo-cline); component installs themselves go through the shadcn registry. The first MCP server release (@magicuidesign/mcp 0.1.0) landed two days earlier.

  5. Release magicui-cli 0.1.6

Last release of the original magicui-cli package

The first-generation CLI (magicui-cli) reached 0.1.6 and was later superseded by the official @magicuidesign/cli.
